@@@@@@@ RECENT NEWS ITEMS FROM OUR PRACTICE @@@@@@@@
- NATIONAL VACCIONATION AMNESTY 2010 - Thousands of pets die each year from preventable diseases. That’s why our veterinary practice - in conjunction with Intervet - is running a Vaccine Amnesty Month, which aims to ensure that every pet is fully protected. If your dog or cat is over 18 months of age, or your rabbit is over 9 months, and behind with its vaccines, you may be eligible for major reductions in the cost restarting your pet’s vaccinations when booked between June 15th and July 15th 2010. Restarting vaccinations for dogs and cats involves two injections 2-4 weeks apart. As part of Vaccination Amnesty Month we will be providing the 2nd injection free of charge to clients who missed their pet’s annual vaccination and require a re-start. Rabbit owners will receive the next 6-monthly myxomatosis vaccination for free. To book an appoinment please CLICK HERE to download the necessary form and call the surgery on 01407 764999. - FREE DENTAL CHECK-UPS FOR DOGS, CATS & RABBITS - FREE dental check-ups for dogs and cats in April and May 2010. Four out of five dogs, over the age of 3 years old, have gum disease, making it the most common disease in adult dogs. Oral health is a similar issue in cats. Periodontal disease is also by far the most common oral condition suffered by cats. The majority or cats who are over two years old are believed to suffer from at least some degree of periodontal disease. From April 26th to 2nd May 2010, our practice is offering FREE dental check-ups for rabbits as part of Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW). Three out of four rabbits seen by vets are diagnosed with dental problems, which cause pain and distress and can even prove fatal. To make an appointment for your FREE dog, cat or rabbit dental check, please ring our practice at 01407 764999 (max. 3 rabbits per household) - THE ANGLESEY PET CLINIC IS EXPANDING - We are delighted to announce that Monika Paprzycka has joined the practice as assistant veterinary surgeon in September 2009. Monika is settling in well and is enjoying getting to know Anglesey. She is looking forward to meeting you and your pets at your next appointment. - STRAY DOGS - We are delighted to report that the Anglesey Pet Clinic is now one of the official drop-off point for stray dogs found on Anglesey when the Dog Warden's office is closed (i.e. evenings, weekends, bank holidays). Please note that we are not equipped to go out and collect dogs, but merely act as a drop-off point. If you encounter a stray dog in daytime, please contact the Dog Warden to arrange a collection. - CROSS BOW ATTACK ON CAT - Late in the evening of a Sunday in September 2008, Sooty, the cat of Mr and Mrs Armstrong, was brought to the Anglesey Pet Clinic as an emergency case. A 15 cm long yellow arrow with a plastic shaft and sharp metal tip was lodged in its side. Luckily for Sooty, the crossbow appeared to have been fired from behind him as the arrow had passed under his skin for several centimeters but not penetrated internally and could be removed without surgery If he had been shot from the side or front the outcome could easily have been fatal. James Rutter, the veterinary surgeon, was able to remove the arrow. We are delighted to report that Sooty is doing fine. Anglesey Pet Clinic Ltd. Registered in England & Wales.
