- MARCH 08: VACCINATION AMNESTY -
There is no doubt that vaccination is the only proven safe and effective method of protecting a pet against infectious disease like parvovirus, distemper, hepatitis and leptospirosis. These killer diseases are ever present which is why it is important for owners to keep their pet's vaccinations up to date. In conjunction with Intervet, the Anglesey Pet Clinic is offering a vaccination amnesty for dogs, cats and rabbits in March 2008. This means that eligible pets can get a primary course of vaccines for the price of a single booster. To find out whether your pet qualifies for the amnesty and to print out a voucher, please click here.
- PETS AS THERAPY INFORMATION DAY -
On Saturday 1st March 2008 the practice hosted a Pets as Therapy (PAT) Information day, giving current and potential volunteers a chance to meet and exchange information. It also provided an opportunity for representatives from institutions wishing to receive PAT visits to find out more about the charity's work.
PAT is a charity that uses registered dogs and cats to visit hospitals, hospices, residential and nursing homes, special needs and mainstream schools and many other establishments to bring support and companionship to people of all ages. Many volunteers work with health care professionals in Stroke Rehabilitation, also with people who are clinically depressed and with children suffering from severe animal phobias.
Over 3,500 PAT dogs are at present visiting throughout the U.K., and over 100,000 patients every single week benefit from the service provided by Pets As Therapy. For more information on PAT, please click here.

- COMING TO THE RESCUE OF A GREY SEAL CUB AT TREARDDUR BAY -
Following the recent severe wheather, a lone seal cub was found lying on one of Trearddur Bay's beaches on Sunday 18th November 2007 and James Rutter and his staff were called out by the coast guards to attend the cub. The animal seemed subdued when inspected and, with its mother not to be seen anywhere and the beach being a popular area for dog walking, it was decided that it was best for it to be taken to the Seal Sanctuary in the Mountain Zoo at Colwyn Bay. There it was determined that the animal was a four-week old, 20kg heavy grey seal male and thus weighed only about half the expected weight for his age. In addition, the cub seemed to have a swollen head - most likely due being thrown against rocks during the storms that were battering the northwest all through Saturday.
As the Head Keeper Peter Litherland explains, all cubs admitted to the Sanctuary receive immediate medical care and are fed to build up their weight again. If they respond well to the treatment, they will be tagged and released into the sea in January/February. If Members of public find a lone seal cub on the beach, they should not approach it if it looks healthy and is in no danger of being attacked by dogs. If they are at all concerned, should contact RSPCA in the first instance.
